Hiram Atwater, a native of Williston, Vt., was born January 1, 1802, a son of Jonathan and Sarah (Badger) (Clara Badger, Sarah Shaw) Atwater, http://www.geocities.com/ckhansgw/atwater2.htm natives of Connecticut who settled in Vermont in an early day. (Note, Jonathan Atwater and Russell Atwater were cousins) In 1828, at the age of twenty six, Hiram came to Norfolk and taught several terms of school. He then went to Vermont, and February 8, 1830, married Hannah Miner, a native of Williston, by whom he had three sons; Henry M., Edwin H., and Lucius L.
